MARIA FOUNDATION Uganda, is an independent refugee-led organisation that was founded in 2022 with the mission to support and empower the refugee community in Uganda. It was established on 22nd February 2022 as a community-based organisation by young Entrepreneurs, Ambassadors of peace and working in Nakivale refugee Settlement. Driven by displaced women, the foundation strives to improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups, including women, children, people with disabilities and young people, through targeted humanitarian and community development programs. The organisation emphasizes peace, gender equality, self-reliance and building long term resilience within refugee communities.
